Burr Hole Placement

  • An Emergency Exploratory Burr Hole is an extremely rare procedure where the Physician is placing several small holes in the skull to evaluate for blooding in an unstable patient. This procedure is taught in the Emergency Department but is almost never performed as the circumstances for it are very rare.As this is such a rare and unusual occurrence it is difficult for any ER resident to have the chance to see, let alone perform the procedure. This module is designed to demonstrate the procedure in a simulated environment with the ability to practice the actual drilling of bone on a 3D printed model.
